Gardeners in Shrewsbury: Hedge Cutting, Tree Pruning & Garden Maintenance

Hedge cutting and reductions, tree pruning, grass cutting and regular garden maintenance across Shrewsbury, Wem, Oswestry, Telford and Ellesmere – with the cuttings cleared away.

Hedge cutting, tree work and gardening

Not every garden needs a redesign. Often what's needed is an overgrown hedge brought back under control, a tree pruned so it lets in more light, or a lawn and borders kept tidy through the growing season. The Green Team does this work as well as full landscaping projects.

Hedge and tree work is priced after we've seen it, because the height, length, access and the amount of waste make a big difference. We visit, look at the job with you and send a fixed written quotation, which we aim to send within 48 hours of the visit.

Before you book hedge or tree work

A few rules and practical points worth knowing:

  • Nesting birds: it's an offence to damage or destroy an active bird's nest. The main nesting season runs from about March to August, so hedges should be checked before cutting, and bigger hedge reductions are usually best planned for autumn or winter.
  • Protected trees: a tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) needs the council's consent before most work. In a conservation area you normally have to give the council six weeks' notice before working on a tree. Check with Shropshire Council (or Telford & Wrekin Council in Telford) if you're unsure.
  • Boundaries: you can usually cut back branches or hedge growth that overhang your property, up to the boundary line. Work beyond the boundary needs the owner's agreement.
  • Access and waste: long or tall hedges create a lot of cuttings. We look at access and how the waste will be removed when we quote, so it's included in the price rather than a surprise.

We go through these points at the free site visit, and your fixed written quotation sets out exactly what is included.
